Custom Journals and Guestbooks

Here we have examples of commissioned hand bound books – journals and guestbooks I have made to order. Each one is unique, somewhat custom or in some cases my client just requested a handmade book and allowed me to make choices regarding color and materials. These books and journals are made with good text weight paper suitable for writing and light drawing. Covers vary but include use of fine leather, bookcloth or decorative papers. The bindings are often longstitch for the soft covers or romanesque binding for hard covers. Producing a custom book allows for inclusion of all sorts of personalized artwork and typography. These are sturdy books made to withstand heavy use and last for years.

This binding is romanesque which allows for a number of color combinations matching spine materials, threads and covers. This structure is sturdy and opens flat.
