This handpainted panel was made to be cut into 6 panels for use in the artist book, Lookit Mother Nature on the Run (in Artist Books).
Inspired by illustrations in old-time science books this gathering of creatures is set somewhat surreally in a not-to-scale view
of the beauty of nature. The opposing panel of the book presents a case against genetic modification of natural things.
Miriam Rodríguez, an activist from Mexico until her death in 2017,
worked in pursuit of justice for the slain and against the murderous
gangs running amok in her region.
Wangari Maathai was a biologist, scientist, activist in Kenya. She worked
on behalf of women's right and founded the Green Belt Movement
which planted millions of trees in Kenya.
